End Grain Butcher’s Block
There is something special about these Chopping Boards. Not only are they extremely hard wearing and beautiful to look at but they are also kinder to knife blades.
This is because when you cut down on End Grain, the blade’s edge actually passes between the fibres of the timber and then close up again once the blade is removed. Rather like when you place a knife into a modern fibre knife block, the bristles separate leaving very little or no damage. It is not difficult to see why these chopping boards are the no 1 choice of professional chefs and have been used by butchers for generations. As chopping boards go, End Grain has the most resistant cutting surface.
Constructed from our highly prized american white oak, these blocks are made completely by hand. Note the construction of our blocks, the mismatched layout of its parts – this is the telltale sign of true handmade End Grain.
End grain blocks also make fantastic trivets, ideal for hot pans and roasting trays straight from the oven.
